The Glovebox Now Suggests Documents That Match Your Build

Your rig assistant has never answered from vibes. It answers from documents, and it has been working from the documents your builder set up, plus your spec sheet, since the first question you ever asked it. When you asked why your heater was short cycling at 9,000 feet, that paperwork was already in play.

What you could not do was see any of it. Unless a source happened to surface in a chat reply, you were working blind. The Glovebox is where that changes. Open Rig from the shortcuts bar in chat, and the Glovebox tile sits full width under your specs. Everything else about the hub is covered in our walkthrough of the Rig Hub. This post is about one tab inside the Glovebox, because two of the three tabs give you a window and that one gives you a lever.

Rig Knowledge, set up by your Home Circle. Nothing here is new except your ability to look at it.

Open the Glovebox and a banner tells you the whole arrangement in one line: "Your Rig Assistant searches Rig Knowledge and Personalized Knowledge when answering your questions." Under it, three tabs: Rig Knowledge, Personalized Knowledge, and Recommendations.

Those three tabs are three different tiers of trust, and the subtitles say it plainly. Two of them you are simply seeing for the first time. One of them puts a decision in your hands that you never had before.

Rig Knowledge

Set up by your Home Circle. This is the tier you did not build. Your Home Circle, usually the shop that converted your van, picks what belongs here. The tooltip is honest about it: "Carefully selected and set up by your Home Circle. Your assistant may also use additional resources as it's been instructed." If you want the wider picture of what a Home Circle actually is, our post on Circles covers it. These documents have been feeding your assistant since day one. What is new is that you can see which ones they are, and open them. Because this tier belongs to your builder, you cannot remove anything from it. That is the point. Nobody accidentally deletes the documentation for the electrical system in their own van.

Personalized Knowledge

Information you've added in. This is your tier. Your assistant searches it exactly the same way it searches Rig Knowledge, and you are the only one who decides what stays. A swipe on any row here gives you Delete, and it only works here.

Recommendations

Not used until you add it. Here is the one that is actually new. Grover reads your spec sheet, matches it against the documents available for your rig, and puts the ones that line up in a pile for you to look at. They sit there doing nothing until you say so. The tooltip is blunt about it: "Based on your spec sheet and customized to meet your needs. Your assistant doesn't use them unless you add them." Adding one changes what your assistant works from, and you are the only one who can do it.

We built it that way on purpose. Your assistant's reading list should be something you agreed to, not something that grew on its own while you were driving.

Adding a Recommendation Takes About Four Taps

The whole flow is short. That was the goal.

Open Rig, tap Glovebox, and switch to the Recommendations tab. On iOS that tab is labelled Suggested for space. You get a list of documents with a checkmark on each row.

Select the ones you want. The list holds still while you pick, so nothing reshuffles under your thumb halfway through, which matters more than it sounds like it should when you are doing this in a camp chair with one hand on a coffee cup. Then confirm the selection, and you are done.

The heater and the air conditioner here are the exact models on that spec sheet. Nothing moves until you confirm.

Everything you accepted lands in Personalized Knowledge. Switch to that tab and there it is, in a tier your assistant searches. Ask your question in chat and those documents are now in play.

Tapping any row in any tier opens the document itself in a Safari sheet without leaving the app, so you can read the actual page whenever you would rather look it up yourself than ask.

A few things worth knowing, because we would rather you hear them from us than find them the hard way:

• The suggestion pile is capped. It is a short set of the best candidates for your rig, not a catalog to wade through.
• The Search documents field covers Rig Knowledge and Personalized Knowledge. Recommendations is a list you scan, not a list you search.
• There is no way to dismiss a suggestion yet. Skip one and it can turn up again next time you look, so if something is not for you, just leave it unchecked and move on.
• If a document is in both Rig Knowledge and Personalized Knowledge, you see it once, under Rig Knowledge. No duplicates cluttering the list.

Start With Your Specs, or There Is Nothing to Match

Open Recommendations before you have customized your spec sheet and you will not see documents. You will see this: "Fill out your Specs to get recommendations", and a Go to Specs button that takes you straight there.

No specs, no suggestions. The button takes you straight to the sheet.

That is not the feature failing. That is the feature telling you the truth about how it works. Matching documents to a rig requires knowing something about the rig. A blank spec sheet gives Grover nothing to match against, so instead of guessing and handing you a generic pile, it points you at the eight sections of your spec sheet and waits.

This is the best argument we have for spending ten minutes on your specs. Fill in Power System and the documentation that comes back is about your inverter and your batteries, not somebody else's. Fill in Climate Control and it is about your heater and your fan. The difference between generic advice and a real procedure is almost always a model number, which is exactly what our own guides to van electrical troubleshooting, van heating systems, and cooling and fans keep running into. Victron and Lithionics do not publish one document for all vans. They publish documents for specific gear.

The Specs tile also shows you where you stand at a glance, in the form N of 8 sections filled, plus a badge telling you whether you are still on the Template or running your own numbers. Your assistant was always reading that sheet. Seeing how much of it is still blank is the part that finally gets anyone to go fill it in. One filled field counts a whole section, so progress comes faster than you would expect.

Fill in a few sections, then come back to the Glovebox and see what turned up. That is the loop, and it runs on its own. Every time you save your spec sheet, Grover re-runs the match against the documents available for your rig right then, so anything new lands under Suggested without you asking for it. You do not have to wait for anything or tap a refresh button.

The one part that stays in your hands is the accepting. A suggestion sits there doing nothing until you confirm it, which is what the "Not used until you add it" note is telling you. Confirm it and it moves into Personalized Knowledge, and from that point your assistant is answering from it too. So the full loop is: add specs, new suggestions appear on their own, and you decide which ones your assistant gets to use.
