Comments and Hearts, Right on the Spot

Somebody in your circle pins a hot spring you've never heard of. Right away you have questions. Is the road in washboard? Is there cell? Will a van with no clearance make it, or is this a high-clearance-only kind of place?

Until now, the answer lived in a text thread somewhere, if you could find the person at all. Now you ask right under the pin, and anyone in your circle who's been there can answer. Grover comments and hearts work on pins, campouts and trips, on iPhone and Android.

Comments on Every Spot Your Circle Shares

Open any pin, campout or trip somebody in your circle shared and you'll find the conversation underneath it. Add a comment, or reply to someone else's. Replies sit right under the comment they answer, so a question and its answers stay together instead of scattering down the page.

The conversation belongs to the spot, not to wherever you happened to find it. Open the same campout from your circle or from the map and it's the same thread, with everything that's been said so far.

That's what makes it useful months later. The next person who finds that hot spring reads the road report you left in June.

Hearts and @Mentions

Sometimes a spot doesn't need a comment. It needs a heart. Give one to any pin, campout or trip you love, and give one to a comment that saved you a bad night.

Want a specific friend to see something? Type @ and their name. They'll get a notification that you mentioned them, and you'll get one when somebody replies to you. Hearts show up in your notifications too, without buzzing your phone.

The Ground Rules

Words and links, no photos. Comments are for talking about the spot. The photos belong on the pin itself.

No editing. Typo? Wrong road number? Delete the comment and post it again. Nobody can quietly change what they said after people have replied to it.

Your post, your call. You can turn comments off on anything you post. Comments only go on things people share, so campgrounds and other places on the map don't have threads.

Keeping It Friendly

Circles are small groups of people who actually camp, and we want them to feel that way. If a comment crosses a line, report it. If a person does, block them, and you won't see their comments anymore.

Whoever runs your circle can also hide a comment that doesn't belong there. A hidden comment disappears from that circle, and the person who wrote it can still see it marked as hidden, so nothing vanishes without a trace.
